Felicia Renne Tolbert

Felicia Renne Tolbert is an internationally published, award-winning photographer, board member of the Hazel Park Arts Council, curator, and founder of Women Behind The Lens, based in Metro Detroit. The focus of her work is primarily live performance photography, portraiture, and photojournalism.  

She has won various awards, including First Place in the US Dept. Of Defense: Battles Won Photography Contest, First Place in the Sony Alpha Female Micro-grant contest, WDIV Best of Detroit, and the NABJ Moneta Sleet Photography Contest. In addition, Documenting Detroit granted her a fellowship in its inaugural year, and she has previously been an ambassador for the 24 Hour Project.

In 2024, Felicia founded Women Behind The Lens, an organization dedicated to supporting lens-based creatives through education, networking, connection, and empowerment. Rooted in her own experiences within the industry, the organization was created to help others navigate challenges, avoid common pitfalls, and build a strong, informed, and inspired creative community.
